Project Background
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, legendary explorers of the western United States, spent the winter of 1805 along the Oregon Coast. During this time they visited, mapped and described many locations, including a village belonging to the Clatsop Native Americans. Several wooden structures just south of the Clatsop River's outlet to the Pacific Ocean were noted in Lewis and Clark's maps and journals. To this day the village has not been found. continue...

Project Aim
The purpose of this project is to investigate, and attempt to locate, the physical location of the Clatsop Native American village described in the maps and journals of Lewis and Clark.
