Lesson Plan Summary
As a part of an eighth grade United States history unit covering slavery and the Civil War, students will learn about the Underground Railroad. Students will use information gathered from class lectures and discussions to focus their research in order to create a possible journey of someone traveling on the Underground Railroad using Google My Maps.
Once students have completed their research they will incorporate the information they have gathered into a map. For each point, students should provide anecdotal information about the place's significance to slavery, the Civil War, or the Underground Railroad. Some of the points will have hyperlinks and/or pictures.
