P7 Kahugu Surges at 20 Mi. (3 Pictures)

1- Joseph Kahugu makes a bold move at 20 miles that puts some hurt into the seven man pack. "I made a move to try to win the race," Kahugu recalled. The 27 year old Kahugu won his marathon debut in Cleveland last May and trains in the Chicago area. Kahugu began his push as the course runs along the freeway - a move that should have been expected as Kahugu mistakingly ventured onto a freewayfor a training run shortly after his arrival in Chicago.

2- Kahugu Leads at 21 Mi.

3- Osoro 4th at 21 Mi.

2- Kahugu bolts to a 4:42 mile that breaks up the pack. Thys stays close with a 4:43, with Khannouchi (4:44) and Osoro (4:47) remain in the chase. Running past Commisky Park a quarter-mile later, Khannouchi (1) has pulled even with Thys (26), while Osoro looms in the background.
3- Osoro is content to run 4:47 - and trails by 30m. Tanui is another 15m back.
