ADAM GOUCHER RUNS AWAY WITH MEN's 4K RACE

Colorado's Adam Goucher added the US 4K XC title to the NCAA crown he won last November. The Short Course 4K Race is an exciting new event added to the IAAF World Cross Country Championships a year ago. Steepler Robert Gary bolted to the lead, followed by a talented pack of fellow steeplers Mark Croghan, and Tom Nohilly, and the Colorado based foursome of Adam Goucher, Jason Stewart, Dan Browne and Pete Julian. Begining the last 2K loop, Goucher moved to the front and started to hammer. A kilometer later, Goucher had surged to a 60m lead, and he ran unpressed to win his second national title of the harrier season. Jason Stewart held off Rob Gary for 2nd place.
