Space for faculty, staff and students to develop their own professional Web space is now available in one location - http://people.uwec.edu. Existing curricular sites will be combined in this space so that all "people" sites at UW-Eau Claire can be found in one location.
This Web space is intended to be used for professional information related to your studies or employment at UW-Eau Claire. The majority of your pages should be related to class projects, the courses you teach, your job, publications, professional organizations you belong to and community involvement. Incidental personal use is allowed. What that means is that you could publish a picture of your dog or family member, but not an entire photo album. For information of a personal nature, you are encouraged to link to an external personal site.
Use the "Web Accounts" link in the People site to create your Web space. Once your account is created, you will receive an e-mail message with details about access to your space.
You can also use this link, once your site is completed, to add it to the A-Z list. The same link can be used if you should ever want to remove the A-Z listing.
Note for classified staff: Discuss the need for Web space with your supervisor. If it is determined there is a need, the supervisor must make the request for the employee by sending an email request to web@uwec.edu.
Because UW-Eau Claire takes no responsibility for the content of any of the "people" pages, there are no "style" requirements. However, it is highly recommended that you include an ID block on the bottom of all your pages. On the bottom of the default home page you get when your site is initially created, you will find an example.
Web Page authors take full responsibility for their Web pages. These responsibilities are described in general below. See the UW-Eau Claire WWW General Guidelines for more detailed information.
As a public institution of higher learning, we are are required to take appropriate steps to ensure that our public Web sites are universally accessible by all persons, including those without access to high speed Internet connections, those who do not have the latest computer technology, and those persons using special technology such as screen readers for the sight impaired. Please check out our section on Accessible Web Pages for more information on how your pages can satisfy this requirement.
You are allowed up to 25 mb of disk space for your site. A quota system protects the space from overuse.
Your pages will be removed at the same time your other computing resources, such as email accounts, are removed. If you wish to retain your work, it is your responsibility to copy files to a different resource prior to that time.
