If you are installing a new operating system on an existing computer, be sure to back up your data.
Make sure you have an operating system that is compatible with your hardware (32-bit vs 64-bit, sufficient processor, hardware, disk space).
Removing prior Windows installations
Creating a new partition for installation:
Formatting that partition:
Installing a new copy of Windows (images for Vista)
Insert the installation disk and start up your computer.
For a new installation, select the “custom (advanced)” option.
Choose the desired partition (if you have multiple partitions on your computer)
