The goals and objectives of the Eau Claire Municipal Band are to:
• provide family-oriented programming that is both entertaining
and educational during a period of the year when
other large instrumental ensembles are on hiatus
• promote patriotism by recognizing veterans and by performing
a significant number of pieces that are uniquely American
(e.g. Stars and Stripes Forever, Oklahoma, St. Louis Blues, etc.)
• provide opportunities for area composers and arrangers
to showcase their work
• draw attention to and make use of, in the manner for which it was intended,
the Sarge Boyd Bandshell in Owen Park, a structure that is listed
on the National Register of Historic Places
• reach out, via public access television, to shut-ins and others
who are unable to attend live performances
• provide a venue through which charitable organizations can raise funds by offering refreshments and/or other items to concertgoers
at reasonable prices
• further Eau Claire's reputation as a cultural center of western Wisconsin
• promote a sense of community among local residents and
foster a spirit of hospitality toward visitors to the city
• preserve and revitalize a legacy that can be passed on
to future generations.
