Chapter 1: The Water Cycle

Music Begins immediately

Lake

Narrator 1:

Today we’re going to talk about the water cycle, which is made up of four stages including: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection and infiltration.

Chapter 2: Evaporation

Music continues quietly in background

Evaporation

Narrator 2:

We’ll first take a look at evaporation.  Evaporation occurs when rivers, lakes, and the ocean are heated by the sun.  The sun heats the water and it eventually turns it to vapor or steam.  The vapor leaves the body of water and enters the atmosphere.

Chapter 3: Condensation

Music continues quietly in background

Condensation

Cloud

Narrator 1:

The next step in the water cycle is condensation.  When the water enters the atmosphere, it gets cold again and changes back into liquid and these form clouds.

Chapter 4: Precipitation

Music continues quietly in background

Rain sound effect

Rain

Narrator 2:

Next comes precipitation.  This stage occurs when so much liquid condenses that the air can’t hold it anymore.  The cloud gets too heavy and then releases the liquid causing precipitation, often in the form of rain or snow depending on the temperature outside.

Chapter 5: Collection and Infiltration
Music continues quietly in background

Lake

Narrator 1:

The precipitation then falls back into bodies of water o seeps back into the ground, which is called infiltration. Then the cycle starts all over again!
