Me in Large Artillery Crater

Christina took this photo of me standing in a particularly large artillery crater. This is in a ‘lightly’ disturbed area. That is, if you compare it to other areas on the Verdun battlefield. The pink flags you see me holding and in the background are to mark the craters I already counted as part of a crater density survey. In this survey, the exact location of the crater was marked by recording the distance and azimuth to the crater from a GPS recorded location in the corner of the plot. I also noted the diameter and depth of the craters in the survey. This information was then implemented into an extension in ARCGIS to plot out the crater location and sizes.
