Assignments/Quizzes/Exams
All graded and non-graded activities can be taken into consideration for your final grade.
- Assignments must be produced using MS Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Access) and submitted through D2L, unless notified otherwise.
- Documents must follow the IS-240 assignment example.
- Upload assignments to the D2L dropbox by the due date. Many assignments will have a LATE Dropbox available for 24 hours past the deadline with a 25% penalty assessed. Do NOT wait until the last minute, as extensions will not be given for technology issues that arise.
- Always verify that your submitted files are viewable from D2L by using the dropbox History button. if you can't open them, neither can the instructor.
- You will receive an automatic email notification from D2L upon successful file submission. SAVE that email confirmation for your records!
- Files with a ~$ prefix are temporary files created when your file is open, and are NOT usable or viewable. Save and close files before attempting to upload them into the Dropbox.
- You may be allowed to take missed D2L unit exams 1-3 up to 24 hours past the deadline with a 50% penalty assessed. There will be no late exam available for the unit 4 (final) exam.
- Since D2L quizzes are enabled for 7 or more days with two attempts, there are no makeup quizzes.
- Use the D2L "Help" discussion board to post questions related to course content and assignments. Fellow student replies are encouraged. These areas are accessible to all class members, often getting you help before I can respond. Please do not providing complete homework files or post complete "solutions."
- All assignments must be completed at a competency level appropriate for a college student. A minimum of 10% of your assignment grade may be assessed on the following criteria:
- Central Theme/Topic/Issue; Clear, Succinct
- Logical and Coherent Organization
- Appropriate Level of Supporting Detail
- Visual Appeal (heading structure, graphic highlighting, paragraph length)
- Syntax, Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, and Mechanics
- Graded in-class activities cannot be made up, unless prior arrangements have been made.
Backup and Security:
You are responsible for maintaining original and backup copies of all assignments. In the event a file is bad, it is your responsibility to have a backup copy of the assignment available for submission. Also, keep copies and notes regarding all graded assignments until you have received your final grade for the course.
