Conduct:

Absences:
I hope you will view IS-240 as you would a job. Moreover, like a job you are expected to be to class on time. If you are not here, you miss important experiences that cannot be duplicated, and affect your team productivity. However, I understand that there will be days when you must be absent. On those days, you are expected to e-mail or call your instructor before the class meets to indicate that you will be absent. If this is not done, your absence will be considered unexcused. Unexcused absences will result in point deduction from your conduct grade and affect your final grade. Unexcused absences also negatively affect scholarships, study abroad references, employment references, and internships.
If you have to attend a funeral, contact student services or fill out the form at http://www.uwec.edu/sdd/absenceform.htm and they will email me with what is considered an excused absence.
Typical unexcused absences that don't fly include: My friend has a wedding this weekend; my ride home left early; I needed a vacation; I'm going hunting; etc. Of course I've heard many very creative Friday excuses not listed here.

Missing assignments:
Missing assignments, quizzes, and exams will result in point deduction from your conduct grade and affect your final grade.

Common courtesy:
As much as I appreciate technology, during class the use of cell phones, iPods, and computers for entertainment are not acceptable. I value everybody's opinion in my classes, and encourage discussion and collaboration. However, when the instructor or any classmate has the floor, please demonstrate common courtesy with your silence and attention.

Academic Dishonesty:
Although collaboration and helping each other while completing assignments is encouraged, you must do your own work on individual assignments, quizzes, and exams. Always log in with your own user name from the computer you are using while completing assignments. File tracking and file compare procedures are used, and students caught submitting the same files or another's work will receive a zero for the assignment grade, a zero for conduct for the whole unit, and further action may be taken according to the UWS 14-Student Academic Disciplinary Procedures (http://www.uwec.edu/sdd/procedural14.htm).
