There are many concerns as people grow older. This video addresses some of the signs of aging and also suggests ways to stay healthy as a person ages.

This video is accurate in its’ information as well as timely. It will take some time before this video becomes outdated. The ways our bodies’ age will continue to follow similar patterns.

Because everyone ages, there is little room for bias or stereotyping. The interviewer talks with several different individuals, thus steering away from any stereotypes.

star bullet

This video would be appropriate for students between the grades 6-12. Because the video addresses aging and mentions death, it would be only appropriate to discuss moral issues of aging (if they should arise) with older students.

Presentation

There is no teacher’s guide for this video. Additionally, there are no built in pauses to aid discussion during the video.

Organization was somewhat present. A sufficient amount of information is covered, but in a rather sporadic manner.

Pacing in the video is appropriate and doesn’t move too quickly. Because of this, pauses for discussion aren’t extremely necessary.

The quality of the video is average, but I have seen visually stimulating videos that are more professionally filmed.

Learning

Honestly, this video would not be very beneficial for instructional use. It is informational, but is rather dry in its’ content. There are no summaries throughout or at the end of the video to recapitulate the general ideas covered. As mentioned previously in this evaluation, there were no built in pauses during the video. Moreover, there were no questions embedded within the video, therefore it would be valuable to have some sort of worksheet or classroom discussion following the video. The one element this video did have was diagrams to clarify what was going on inside the body as a person ages. Although there was no text to accompany the diagrams, they were simple and well explained.

Credibility and Sources of Bias

A very credible media group called Films for the Humanities & Sciences produced the Aging Process. After doing basic research online, I found out that this media group applies their films to standards all across the nation. Additionally, throughout the video, several individuals, such as credible doctors and firsthand individuals who are experiencing aging were interviewed. On the other hand, the video is a little outdated.
